HALF MARATHON
DETAILS
The Mushroom Cap Half Marathon and Relay Event explores Kennett Square's landmarks, unique neighborhoods, and growing commerce. The race takes runners on a picturesque journey throughout the mushroom capital of the world. Hydrate with local aid stations throughout the course and vote on the winner! Immediately following, get your celebration on at our finish line festival hosted by our Title Sponsor,
From the runner swag, to the course, to the themed aid stations...It's the race that celebrates you!
The Mushroom Cap Half Marathon is a rain or shine event. We always hope and plan for sun but if the opposite holds true, we will run in rain, in wind, and in snow. Only EXTREME weather conditions (i.e. hurricanes or blizzards) will close the event. Our goal is to start this event on time at 8:00AM and have every runner safely finished by 11:30AM.
There is a 3:30 minute (16-minute mile) cutoff time for this race. If your pace falls behind the cutoff, you will be asked to leave the course in the provided safety vehicle.
The KSQ Mushroom Cap 13.1 is a race where every runner counts!
The MCHM will take place on Saturday, November 7, 2020 starting promptly at 8:00am on South Broad Street.
Post Race Celebration
Join us for an amazing finish line festival hosted by ! The beer garden will open at 9:00am and stay open until whenever the party ends. All age appropriate runners will receive one complimentary pint of cold beer at the post-race bash. Come one, come all, the festival is open to runners, spectators, volunteers and community friends.

. Beer Garden
. Runner Massages
Time Limits
Runners and walkers are welcome to participate, however, on course-aid and roads can only be secured for a set amount of time based on municipality agreement, so all participants must be able to maintain a 16 minute mile or less and finish the half marathon in 3.5 hours. After this time, aid stations will be closed, police will no longer monitor traffic, and roads will be re-opened, making safe passage to the finish very difficult. In the event that you come in beyond this time limit Run2Shine will not be responsible for your safety. If you do not feel that you can maintain a 16-minute mile or less over the half marathon course, for your safety, please consider a different event. Perhaps our Relay Event!

HALF MARATHON
RELAY
Not everyone is up for 13.1 miles. A lot of runners prefer running with a mate and according to several studies, there is nothing better than getting your mate up early to run with you. The Relay allows two runners to share the distance of the half marathon, then to meet back up at the post-race festival and celebrate together.

RACE
FAQs
What are the age restrictions for each race?
Participants must meet the minimum age requirement by race day (November 7, 2020) in order to participate:
. Half Marathon requires runners to be at least 16 years old
. Half Marathon Relay requires runners to be at least 10 years old
. Age requirements are based on regulations by IMMDA (International Marathon Medical Directors Association). For further information and background, see: IMMDA Advisory Statement on Children and Marathoning.
I am a relay team captain. Do I still need to register as a team member?
Relay team captains are automatically registered as a team member when they register, pay and create a relay team. Relay team captains do not have to register a second time as a team member. Please do not create a team if you are not participating.
How long does our team have to complete the course?
The Half Marathon Relay course will be open for 3 hours. There will be two checkpoints along the course that will require participants to meet at least a 16:00 minute/mile pace. Any participants that do not meet these requirements must board a sweep vehicle, which will drop off near the finish line.
Can I defer my race to the following year or receive a refund?
Answer: Sorry, but we do not offer deferrals for future races or refunds due to injury.
Will bikes, skates, or baby joggers be allowed on the course?
Answer: No. Please we do not allow strollers for the safety of the children in them.
Can I sell or give my bib to someone else?
Answer: No. You may not sell or transfer your bib to another person. Please do not do this as you jeopardize not only that runner's safety but the safety of other runners on the course.
How do I get my race day packet?
Answer: Runners must pick up their packets at one of the scheduled Packet Pick Ups.
How do I switch between races in an event? Note: this option is only available through November 1st
